News7/22/2009 Annual Meeting for MembersToday Northwestern REC announces that its 73rd Annual Meeting celebration will be held on Saturday, August 1, at the Crawford County Fairgrounds. In previous years, the Co-op has welcomed to this annual event a crowd of around 2,500, including Cooperative members and their families.
Those in attendance will enjoy numerous fun-filled activities for all ages including children’s games, a variety of local exhibitors, horse drawn wagon rides, and more. Members who attend also receive a complimentary gift and are eligible for numerous door prizes. Also known as the Co-op’s “annual chicken dinner”, it is widely known that Kentucky Fried Chicken meals are served at the Annual Meeting.
Although this is quite a fun-filled day, an informational business meeting is held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. During this meeting the membership elects new board members. This year’s candidates are Ron Golden, Scott Poole and Jack Sheffer in District 1; Roger Follett in District 3; Kathryn Cooper-Winters in District 5 and Lanny Rodgers in
District 10.
Presentations from Kathryn Cooper-Winters, Board President, and Michael D. Tirpak, General Manager & CEO, will focus on past, present and future Cooperative business. Specifically, presenters will discuss energy efficiency and what the Co-op is doing to keep costs down.
Northwestern REC is excited to announce that Russ Schetroma, from Culbertson, Weiss, Schetroma and Schug, P.C. will be in attendance to speak about the Marcellus Shale and the rapid growth of oil/gas wells taking place throughout the Commonwealth.
Northwestern RES is a full service electric distribution cooperative. The Cooperative serves 20,000 members in Crawford, Erie, Warren, Mercer and Venango counties in Pennsylvania and Ashtabula County in Ohio.
