Home Energy Audits
Northwestern REC members have three options available to help find ways to make their homes more energy efficient. We recommend that before spending any money on new windows, a new heating system, insulation, etc., you have an energy audit done at your home. An energy audit can be simple or complex. The important thing is to find the areas in your home that are costing you the most in energy loss/inefficiency. Then develop a plan to improve on them.
Your Energy Audit Options
Your co-op offers you three levels of energy audits to fit your needs and budgets.
Home Energy Calculator: self audit by member at Home Energy Suite. This option is FREE.
Top 3 Recommendations: a co-op energy services representative visits the member’s home and provides the member with the “Top 3” recommendations for improvements based on home observations. There is a $50 charge for this option.
Blower door/infrared camera audit: a co-op energy services representative comes to the member’s home and performs a blower door test and uses the infrared camera to view home envelope leak areas. Cost is $75.
