We've noticed a rise in Northwestern REC meters being pulled for upgrades or repairs by individuals who are not authorized Northwestern REC employees. We would like to remind our valued members of our disconnect and reconnect policy.

The co-op will make meter disconnects upon request by members. If you are an electrician or contractor scheduled to perform work for a member of Northwestern REC and need a meter pulled, please contact the cooperative at 1-800-352-0014 to schedule a disconnect or reconnect appointment.

An authorized Northwestern REC employee will temporarily disconnect the power to allow you to perform necessary work on or around the electrical service.

When calling to schedule an appointment, please provide the reason for the disconnect or reconnect. Appointments to schedule a crew will be dependent on the nature and reason, as well as workload.

There is NO CHARGE from the co-op to our members for a disconnect/reconnect appointment during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.).

If there is an emergency during non-business hours, such as holidays or weekends, please call 1-800-352-0014 to report the situation to the on-call person.

Please remember that whenever a meter is pulled for electrical repairs or upgrades, an electrical inspection is required prior to reconnection.

Upon request, the co-op maintains a list of electrical inspectors for members who require electrical work.
A danger arises when opening a meter base. It is of the utmost importance to us to ensure the safety of our crews, members, and communities in every way we can at Northwestern REC.
